The abbey also houses the oldest and largest winery in Austria and offers wine tasting and wine sales in the wine shop. Dinner is not included this evening in order for you to experience on your own one of the many excellent restaurants in Vienna. We will supply a list of suggested dining establishments with your travel documents. Evening at leisure.
DAY 4 VIENNA / SALZBURG (June 15, 2010) BD
Today you will transfer from your hotel to the Vienna train station where you will depart by train to Salzburg (1st Class seating).
Welcome to the city of Mozart and “The Sound of Music”! Upon arrival in Salzburg you will be met and transferred to your hotel with check in assistance. Balance of the day is at leisure.
This evening you are in for a special treat – the famous Mozart DINNER CONCERT at Stiftskeller St. Peter Restaurant (3 course set menu – no drinks included). There is no transfer, but the restaurant is within walking distance from the hotel. The Mozart Dinner Concert is a unique Salzburg experience. Enjoy the most popular compositions by W.A. Mozart by candlelight in the stylish ambiance of the Stiftskeller St. Peter restaurant. Music is played by Salzburg artists in historic costumes and a multiple-course dinner is served, prepared as it was in Mozart’s time.
The first documented mention of the Stiftskeller St. Peter restaurant was in 803 on the occasion of Charlemagne’s’ visit and, as the most ancient Central European restaurant, it is extremely popular. Legend has it that Mephistopheles met with Faust in this tavern, which was established by Benedictine monks in A.D. 803. In fact, it's the oldest restaurant in Europe, housed in the abbey of the church that supposedly brought Christianity to Austria. Aside from a collection of baroque banquet rooms, there's an inner courtyard with vaults cut from the living rock, a handful of dignified wood-paneled rooms, and a brick-vaulted cellar with a tile floor. The three part concert programme comprises the most popular arias and duettos from the operas „The Magic Flute“, „Don Giovanni“ and „The Marriage of Figaro“, as well as movements from the Serenade „A Little Night Music“ - performed by candlelight.
Accommodation: Mercure Hotel Salzburg - 3 Nights
DAY 5 SALZBURG (June 16, 2010) B

Remainder of afternoon and evening is at leisure to explore this cultured and picturesque city. Each guest will receive a Salzburg City Guide with a comprehensive map of the old city, or “Altstadt”.
DAY 6 SALZBURG (June 17, 2010) BD
After breakfast depart on your full day excursion to the Salzkammergut area including a visit to Mondsee with entrance to the church, which you will recognize from the “Sound of Music” – the wedding scene was filmed here! Later, you will visit the lovely lakeside resort town of St. Gilgen and take a scenic cruise on the Wolfgangsee. You will disembark from the cruise and take an incredible scenic rail trip on the Schafbergbahn which climbs high up into the Schafberg Mountain. Your coach will be waiting at the rail terminus to take you back to Salzburg. Dinner this evening will be served on the terrace of the famous landmark Sacher Hotel, overlooking the Salzach River.
